Concerned Rabbis’ Letter to President-elect Biden*

*Sponsored by Herut North America

Hon. Joseph R. Biden
Washington, D.C.

Dear President-elect Biden,

We, the undersigned American rabbis, strongly urge you to refrain from reversing the major U.S. policy decisions that were made concerning Israel during the past several years.

— Recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s undivided capital and moving of the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
These actions were required by the bipartisan Jerusalem Embassy Relocation Act that was originally adopted as U.S. law in 1995 and you were a cosponsor of this legislation.

— Recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
This simply acknowledged reality: the Golan is essential for Israel’s national security, and giving the Golan to Syria’s genocidal terrorist regime would undermine America’s regional interests and the war on terror.

— Rejecting “Pay for Slay.”
The bipartisan Taylor Force Act, barring U.S. aid to the Palestinian Authority unless it stops paying salaries to terrorists, is necessary to combat the promotion of terrorism and ensure that American taxpayers’ money is not used to reward killers (including killers of American citizens).

— Ending nullification of Jewish rights.
The decision to refrain from branding Jewish communities in the disputed West Bank (Judea-Samaria) territories as “illegal” is firmly anchored in expert analysis of the relevant aspects of international law.

— Preventing Iranian nuclear development.
Maintaining the strictest possible economic sanctions on Iran is necessary to combat efforts by the Iranian regime to develop nuclear weapons and promote international terrorism.

Thank you for your attention.
